Toyota Called Off 23,000 Units of Corolla Altis in India

The Japanese giant carmaker, Toyota has announced a recall for its sedan model, the Corolla Altis across the globe. As reported around 2.9 million vehicles are being founded affected from faulty inflator units in fabricated airbags. The countries which are considered in this recall matter including Japan, China, Oceania, India and others.

Reportedly, around 23,000 units of Corolla Altis have been found affected with this inflator units in Airbags across India. And, the whole lot was manufactured in between 2010 and 2012. The company will start contacting with the owners of the affected models soon, for free of cost replacement of the malfunctioning inflators.

The equipped Takata inflators in the Toyota Corolla Altis, according to the transport authorities uses a mixture of ammonium nitrate, which is harmful for human being’s respiration and especially when it is utilized without a drying agent. Owing to this issue almost all the 100 million airbags has been taken back from the company. Apart from this, Statistics reveals recall of 1.16 million vehicles from Oceania and Middle East combined. While from the Japanese market at least 750,000 units have been called back.

All the recall processing will be managed in a phased manner and the company will make contact with the owners of the affected Corolla Altis in the coming days. A few days ago, Toyota has launched the next generation model of the Corolla Altis with a hosts of cosmetic updates. Whereas the car is following the similar powertrain options of 1.8-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine. The top end variant of the Corolla Altis is priced at Rs 15.87 lakh to Rs 19.91 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
