Volkswagen to Launch 30 Plus Electric Cars by 2025

A while ago, Volkswagen emission scandal ruined the automaker’s reputation in the global market, but now to rectify its image before the audience, the German carmaker announced the introduction of more than 30 electric cars by 2025 and assured to receive the sale of 2 to 3 million units post their launch in a year.

Matthias Mueller, CEO of Volkswagen explained the need of more electric cars to meet the government limits over the carbon dioxide emission, greenhouse gasses, and other pollutants issue. However, the company still continue to remain its focus on developing and selling of internal combustion engines.

Still now, the company strictly relying on its diesel engine technology to meet emission targets. But this technology does not turn out to be a success for the German giant. The engine control software worked correctly on to the test runs but on the regular driving conditions it failed.

As of now, the carmaker is trying to settle down the issue of 500,000 cars, equipped faulty software. To replace and repair them, Volkswagen keeping a huge amount of around 16.2 billion Euros ($18.1 billion U.S.) aside, from their previous year earnings as a cover cost to resolve the issue.
