India Post is serving the communication in India from the time when British rulers were holding the command here. During that time the total number of post offices in India was 23,344. These post offices were mainly situated in the urban regions. Currently there are 1,55,015 post offices out of which 1,39,144 post offices are in rural area. A post office covers the average area of 21 kilo meters and a population of around 7,100 people.
India Post is celebrating National Post Week from 9 October to 15 October and within that they are celebrating Post Life Insurance Day. The company is providing Insured amount limit of Rs. 20 lakhs for PLI, and Rs 5 lakhs for RPLI. Applicant can fill the premium at any Post Office. The website for e-filling is www.epostoffice.gov.in.
