Micromax Canvas Fantabulet Launched by Micromax at INR 7,499

Home-grown company Micromax has launched a new budget phone in the Indian market, aka the Canvas Fantabulet at a price of Rs.7,499 which as per company is the world's biggest smartphone. The new handset will be available for purchase via e-commerce website Flipkart and will be coming in a Chrome Gold color variant.

The biggest factor which sets it apart from the humongous list of smartphones is its massive 6.98-inch screen and this also makes it compete with the Lenovo Phab Plus which sports a 6.8-inch display. However, the former has another advantage over Lenovo Phab Plus in terms of the market price since it's priced just at INR 7,499 while the latter is overly priced at a market price of INR 20,999.

The launch comes at the most appropriate time when mobile internet is on the rise and there has been a persistent increase in demand for larger screens and video consumption.

The company is offering a free 90-day subscription to Saavn pro to all its users and also comes bundled with several other applications like Eros Now, Kindle, Saavn and Gaana along with the standard apps included in OS. Additionally, it also features dual box speakers which are powered by DTS technology. On the specs front, it features a 6.98-inch HD IPS display and is powered by a quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. On the terms of storage, it comes with 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

The handset is a dual-SIM variant powered by a 3000 mAh battery and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. It sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and also comes with a 2-megapixel fixed focus front camera. Being dual-SIM, it supports 3G on one SIM and 2G on the other SIM. It has all the standard connectivity options like 3G, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Micro-USB. However, the handset will let down those users who are looking for 4G LTE connectivity.
