Motorola Launches Moto Z2 Play in India at Rs 27,999: Everything You Should Know

After the global launching of Moto Z2 Play, Lenovo subsidiary Motorola has now unveiled its latest Android smartphone in India. The handset is already up for pre-orders and will go on till June 14 before going on sale via offline stores and Flipkart from June 15. Moreover, the company has also launched new Moto Mods last week, still, there is no news of them being available in India. The new Moto Z2 Play will be available with a price tag of Rs 27,999 and the company is also offering 100GB additional Reliance Jio 4G data offer for Jio users, which will only be available for regular buyers not for the pre-registered users.

Desired people can have the glimpse of the live streaming of Moto Z2 Play, that took place earlier today. The company has already detailed some offers regarding the pre-bookings of the handset, according to which, the customers will initially have to pay Rs. 2,000, and rest of the amount can be paid over 10 months with 0 percent interest. Moreover, the company is also offering the Moto Armor pack that includes protective accessories for the smartphone, as part of pre-booking offer to the customers.

 

As a recall, the new Moto Z2 Play Dual-SIM smartphone features a 5.5-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 401ppi of pixel density. It is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and comes with an option to expand the inbuilt memory space up to 2TB via microSD card.

The optical part of the GSM handset includes a 12-megapixel rear camera along with a 1.4-micron pixel sensor, an aperture of f/1.7, a colour correlated temperature (CCT) dual-LED flash, laser and dual autofocus lens (laser autofocus with an expanded range up to 5 metres and 3 million dual autofocus pixels). A 5-megapixel front shooter with a f/2.2 aperture, wide-angle lens, and a dual-LED CCT flash is also provided by the company for selfie lovers.

The Moto Z2 Play is backed up by a 3000mAh battery, which is believed to be the major downgrade from 3510mAh battery seen on the predecessor Moto Z Play. However, the company claims that the new and improved chipset used in the handset will compensate for that loss and its TurboPower charger provides 50% charge in just 30 minutes. The battery of the new smartphone is rated to deliver up to 30 hours of mixed usage.

Connectivity options on the board include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C (3.1), a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, FM radio, and GPS/ A-GPS. The handset measures 156.2x76.2x5.99mm, weighs 145 grams and includes an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor as sensors on the device. Moreover, it comes with a nano-coating, which makes it a water repellent device and it is only 5.99m thick.

Apart from the aforementioned specifications, the Moto Z2 Play smartphone also brings Moto Mods support, which makes it compatible with all of the previously launched Moto Mods as well as will the new ones that have been launched alongside. The new Moto Mods launched by the company include a Moto Power Pack, which offers additional 2200mAh battery. It increases the weights of the handset by just 72 grams and is capable of providing 16 hours of more power on board. The Moto Power Pack will soon be available in black and white colour options in the US with a price tag of USD 49.99 (Rs 3,200 approx).

Furthermore, the company has also introduced a Turbo Power Pack Moto Mod, which comes with an additional 3490mAh battery on board with fast charging support. It comes with a support of up to 30W TurboPower and has been claimed to charge up to 50 percent in just 20 minutes by the company. It weighs just 95 grams and is capable of delivering nearly a day’s worth of power on the smartphone. The Turbo Power Pack Moto Mod will soon be available in the US priced at USD 79.99 (Rs 5,100 approx).

The company has also unveiled a Wireless Charging Style Shell, which offers the same functionality as its name defines priced at USD 39.99 (Rs 2,500 approx). There are also some reports of the availability of the JBL SoundBoost 2 Moto Mod in the market, which comes with a kickstand, and is splash proof. The ravishing detachable speaker will be available in black, red, and blue colour variants with a price tag of USD 79.99 (Rs 5,100 approx).

Lastly, Lenovo has also launched a Moto GamePad, which will work for accessing all the games that support physical controllers. The new Moto GamePad will use the Moto Mods connector to talk to your Moto Z2 Play and other compatible smartphones, instead of the traditional Bluetooth medium. Interestingly, it also comes with an additional 1000mAh battery, which can power up the GamePad for up to 8 hours. It will also feature a USB Type-C port for charging along with a 3.5mm audio jack and will be available with a price tag of USD 79.99 (Rs 5,150 approx).
