Apple Denied Liquid Damage Coverage Despite Having Waterproof iPhone 7

While the launching of any premium product, every company makes many ravishing statements to attract a large amount of people. However, people forgets that the companies cover much of them under their terms and conditions part. A few days before on 7th of September, the leading techno manufacturing firm Apple Inc. had launched its most awaited smartphone iPhone 7 and announced that the model is IP67 certified, which means that the smartphone is water resistant. But, in the term and conditions part, the company has stated that the liquid damage of the device will not be covered up under warrenty.

The company has mentioned in the footnotes in the product page for iPhone 7, in very small words that, resistance to splash, water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease with time. Not to attempt to charge a wet iPhone. Liquid damage is not covered under warranty.

The company has claimed that both of their latest smartphones are splash, water and dust resistant and have been tested under controlled laboratory conditions with an IP67 rating under IEC standards 60529. This statement of not covering the liquid damage of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus may distract the customers a bit to purchase the smartphones.

The thing to be considered is, Apple is not the only company to make such a statement. Sony on the other hand had also come up with devices with even IP68 ratings, but had also made statement like this stating that it’s warranty does not cover the damage caused by improper usage of device. Sony also started to made statements that the users should not use their Xperia devices under water, because that will void the warranty of that device.

The company also clarified that, the statement doesn’t mean that the warranty will not cover the damage caused by accidental splash of water, they just means that user should not push their device to its limit of water resistivity.
