Qualcomm Seeks iPhone Sales Ban In China

Qualcomm Inc, an American multinational semiconductor and telecommunication equipment company, gave assent to the report that it had charged lawsuits against Apple Inc’s iPhone in China. The company is demanding to put the manufacturing and sale of iPhones on hold in the country.

The lawsuit is filed in Beijing Intellectual Property Court, accusing iPhone of patent infringement. The purpose of the suit is to bring injunctive relief to the company. The above details were confirmed by company spokeswoman and she denied to provide any other details.

About the lawsuits in China, Bloomberg previously notified about the fight between the two. The shares of iPhone had grown marginally up and the shares of the Qualcomm had gone down marginally on 15th October.

Apple had mentioned in an email that Apple Inc. has been always paying quite a reasonable and genuine cost for the patents company uses. The iPhone maker said, “In many years of ongoing negotiations with Qualcomm, these patents have never been discussed and in fact were only granted in the last few months.”

Apple is fighting a legal battle globally against the Qualcomm’s long-practice to take a percentage of the total sale made by iPhones and other items by Apple as a license fee for the patents. Overall it has to be seen that the two giants would continue to strive for their position and market strategy till one of them gets any positive reversal from judiciary panel.
