Xiaomi Launched Its First Ever Laptop: Mi Notebook Air

On Wednesday Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi finally launched it's much anticipated entry level Laptop – Mi Notebook Air. On the same event Xiaomi Redmi Pro was also launched. The laptop is in all metal body and stands in competition against Apple MacBook Air.

The company unveiled the laptop in two variants of 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch with Full HD display. The variants have been quoted at a price tag of CNY 3,499 (INR 35,300) and CNY 4,999 (INR 51,400) respectively. Silver and Gold coated variants are available along with some Sticker accessories including Microfiber sleeve costing CNY 69(INR 700), PU Leather sleeve for CNY 99(INR 1,000), and Leather sleeve at CNY 299(INR 3,000).

Talking about the specifications there is lot which Xiaomi can boast of as it has cleared that despite having the same display size as of MacBook Air, the Xiaomi Notebook covers 11 percent smaller dimension overall and the thickness is up by 14.8mm compared to 17mm of MacBook Air. Also the Windows 10 integrated laptop relatively weighs less than the 13-inch MacBook Air by having 1.28kg compared to 1.35kg of MacBook Air.

Under the hood, the laptop comes equipped with a sixth generation Intel Core i5 processor integrated with Nvidia GeForce 940MX GPU having 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM – 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB PCIe SSD having a second slot for the SSD Drive. A quick charge facility is there which will rejuvenate the laptop with 50 percent of power in just 30 short minutes encompassing a 9.5 hour battery life. Additionally, the dimensionally of the newly launched Mi Notebook Air 13.3 Inch are 309.6×210.9×148.8mm.

Coming to the short version of Mi Notebook Air i.e. 12.5 Inch variant, it has much more turf with Apple MacBook Air, in the face of thickness as it is 12.9mm thin which is gaining the fact in front of MacBook which is 13.1mm thick. But talking about the weight it has more link to the gravity having 1.07 kg in front of MacBook which weighs only 0.92kg.

Some other features on the surface are laminated display to reduce glare, edge-to-edge glass protection, AKG dual speakers, Dolby Digital surround sound having a full fledged keyboard with backlit keys with 1.3mm stroke depth. Both Mi Notebook Air models also feature Mi Cloud Sync, letting users sync their phone contacts, messages, gallery, notes, and other data. Both the laptop's have a HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack – but sadly no Ethernet port or optical drive.

Xiaomi latest Mi Notebook Air also supports unlocking support using Mi Band 2 that gets additional support from the laptops Bluetooth v4.1 connectivity.
