Xiaomi Redmi 3S, 3S Prime First Open Sale Begins

Xiaomi - the Chinese smartphone maker is all set to begin the sell out of its Redmi 3S smartphone in India for the first time. As per reports, the product will be made available for purchase via company's official website Mi.com and also through e-commerce website Flipkart with the sale beginning at 12 noon.

The Redmi 3S Android smartphone has been priced at Rs 6,999 and is just a more affordable variant of the Redmi 3S Prime that despite going on sale last week for the first time will still be made available in this sale carrying a price tag of Rs 8,999.

In terms of specifications, Redmi 3S offers 2GB RAM along with 16GB of storage capacity compared to Redmi 3S Prime that comes with 3GB RAM and offers 32GB of storage. Both the variants offer 4100mAh battery though the latter variant also comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor which remains absent on Redmi 3S.

The company was exhilarated last week since it was able to sell out 90,000 units of Redmi 3S Prime smartphone in the first 8 minutes itself when it opened it for its first open sale last week. The company's official email statement by Manu Kumar Jain who also happens to be the India Head reads, "We did a launch sale without registration for the first time ever, as we were confident that we had a significant volume of more than 90,000 units." However, for now, it is unclear as to how many units of both the smartphones will be made available for purchase in the new sale happening on Wednesday.

Some additional common specifications of both the smartphones include a 5-inch HD IPS display that gives a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. Under the hood, the devices sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Soc with a support of Adreno 505 GPU. Both are Dual-SIM smartphones that support Nano SIM as well as Micro SIM cards that operate on Android Marshmallow v6.0 based MIUI 7.5 OS. Both the handsets sports a 13-megapixel camera on the rear end coupled with a 5-megapixel camera on the front end and offers 4G connectivity with VoLTE support.
