1.6-liter Diesel Powered Jeep Compass Spied Testing in India

After an initial positive customer response for Jeep Compass in India, the brand is looking forward with a new engine option for the same model. And the recently spied Jeep Compass model with 1.6-litre diesel engine capacity in Pune, India confirmed the same. But reportedly it has been known, the spied test model is meant for export markets, not for India.

Well, much is not known about the snapped test mule, but a sticker on its rear windshield reveals a 1.6 litre diesel engine under the hood with a six-speed manual transmission. The engine is likely to generate 120bhp of maximum power which is expected to sent to the wheel via an all-wheel-drive system.

In India, the Jeep Compass is on sale with two engine options-a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The former turbocharged petrol engine is rated to churn out the respective power of 160bhp along with 250 Nm. While the diesel engine is good for making 171 bhp of peak power and 350 Nm torque. Both the mill is available with a six-speed manual transmission as standard. While a seven-speed dual clutch transmission option is only available for the petrol version. The facility of an all-wheel-drive system is only being offered for the diesel engine.
