2017 BMW 5 Series Leaked Just Before Global Premiere

The next generation 2017 BMW 5 Series has been leaked in the images, prior to its world premiere which will be held on October 13, 2016. The leaked images are released by Germancarforum revealing the interior and exterior details of the car. The seventh generation BMW 5 Series has been spied testing many times in its home country. Reports claim that it will go into production in a couple of weeks in Germany and will be launched first in Europe in early next year.

Recently, BMW released a promotional video of the 2017 5 Series featuring first ever remote 3D view technology which enables the owner to keep an eye digitally over the car via a mobile application.

Coming to the car details, the next gen 5 series will be around 100 kg lighter in weight than its predecessor, thanks to its CLAR (CLuster ARchitecture) rear wheel drive platform. The exterior design explains the evolution over the generations with larger grill extended to the headlamp clusters, aggressive sporty bumper with larger air dams and new LED taillamps with a more rounded design.

Moving towards the interior profile of the car, the new 2017 5 Series feature a 7-Series inspired cabin, as we notified in the earlier posts. The similarities include steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster and a large iDrive smart infotainment system. If some reports are to be believed, this iDrive system will feature gesture control system.

No mechanical details have been revealed so far, though the next-gen 2017 is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel powertrains with the engine displacement in the range between 2.0- to 4.4-litre. A plug-in hybrid powertrain for 2017 5-Series is also a talk of the town. The transmission will be offered with a choice of 6-Speed manual and 8-Speed automatic while the rear-wheel drive will be standard throughout the range. Though, there will be an xDrive all-wheel drive system as an optional.

Hold your breaths here, you do not have to wait much as the Bavarian Motor Works is expected to unwrap the car on this October 13.
