2019 Maruti Suzuki unveiled Wagon R S-CNG at Rs 4.84 lakh

A new affordable launch by Maruti Suzuki - Wagon R S-CNG at Rs 4.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).The newly introduced budgeted hatchback is unveiled in two variants and one engine-gearbox combo for buyers to choose from. Wagon R S-CNG comes with dual ECU with an intelligent gas port injection system to ensure “active pickup and superior drivability”.

Maruti Suzuki introduced the new Wagon R in India on January 23, 2019, with two petrol engines. Now, hatchback producer has brought in class-leading fuel economy-the CNG-powered Wagon R, designated as the Wagon R S-CNG (Smart-CNG). The 2019 Maruti Wagon R is built on the fifth generation Heartect platform and has undoubtedly enhanced in dimensions resulting in a more spacious interior. Moreover, the exterior of Wagon R has been utterly overhauled with modern designs.

Wagon R S-CNG LXI features include central locking, manual air-conditioning, front power windows, a 12V socket, and 13-inch steel wheels. Safety kit accompanies a drivers-side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a speed alert system along with a seat-belt reminder system. A passenger-side airbag is offered on the LXI (O) variant.

The Wagon R CNG is powered by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder petrol engine, generates 68hp /90Nm and 59hp /78Nm of torque when running on petrol & CNG respectively. The Wagon R CNG profess the fuel efficiency of 33.54 km/kg. For now, Maruti Suzuki has overlooked the larger 83hp, 1.2-liter engine to be equipped with CNG.

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R S-CNG has priced at Rs. 4.84 lakh for LXi S-CNG while the LXi S-CNG (O) is Rs. 5,000 costlier at Rs. 4.89 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) Wagon R S-CNG inevitably bypasses the Hyundai Santro CNG, which costs Rs 5.24 lakh. However, we can not deny the fact that where the Wagon R CNG is available only in the base variants, the more equipped Santro CNG is offered on the mid-spec Magna and Sportz variants.
