ARAI Investigates Volkswagen to Check Emission Manipulation in India

The automobile industry is in a great shock after the reputed brand Volkswagen was accused of emission scam in US. Not only the customers, but the company dealerships are also feeling cheated and betrayed. Even though the fraud has been disclosed in US, other countries are also concerned about the matter as well. As per market reports, an investigation has started in India to check whether the Volkswagen cars here, have been fitted with manipulated engine software. The Ministry of Heavy Industries has asked ARAI to conduct the inquiry, recently.

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has started the proceedings and Volkswagen has been asked to provide the details. As of now, the company has not responded to the matter and the company officials are also not ready to comment anything. Interestingly, the company has confessed that a total of 11 million diesel engines around the globe were installed with manipulated softwares. Currently, the automaker is getting inquired in US, Canada, Italy, Korea, France, Germany and UK.

VW seems to be deeply stuck in this troublesome situation. It has been fined upto USD 18 Billion and has been asked by the EPA to call back around half a million diesel models from the US automobile market. These cars will be repaired by the automaker on its own expense. To top it all, the company shares are also continuously falling and the CEO Mr Martin Winterkorn has also resigned from the post.
