Audi Imports 2017 A5 and S5 Sportback to India for Homologation

About seven years after their first breath in the auto world, Audi A5 and S5 Sportback have finally taken the rebirth as a second generation. While the official debut is slated to happen at the upcoming 2016 Paris Motor Show, both the lineups have already been revealed by the company along with some pictures. Now, the great thing is, both the units have also been imported to India for homologation process and indicating their imminent launch here as well.    

Thanks to Zauba.com, India’s import and export data, which suggests that the latest generation A5 Sportback brought up in the country is in the 35 TDI version. Further, it comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine churning out 187 Bhp of power along with 400 Nm of torque. There is a 7-speed S-Tronic transmission mated to the engine to send the power to the wheels.

The S5 Sportback, on the other hand, is hiding a more power powerful engine under its hood. It’s a 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine that is capable of generating 349 Bhp of power and 500 Nm of maximum torque. Moreover, the engine is packed with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The global market has also lightened up with the same engine along with all-wheel drive configuration. Plus, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h under 5 seconds and can hit the top speed of 250 kmph.

Rest of the details of the Indian bound model have not been disclosed yet, hope it will on the table soon after the official premier at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Apart from the above report, the automaker has also launched its latest-gen A4 luxury sedan in India with two trims namely Premium Plus and Technology at the price of INR 38.10 Lakhs and INR 41.2 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) respectively.
