The Government got this recognition on behalf of:-

  • Adopting a new front- and side-impact crash-test norms for cars
  • Introducing speed-warning devices
  • mandating the automatic headlights and ABS on two-wheelers

GNCAP has been known for starting crash-testing Indian-made cars back in 2014. After the initial failure of first few models, the Indian manufacturers have put great efforts and resources for increasing the safety of the cars. In this context Tata Nexon became the first made-in-India vehicle to receive the 5-star crash rating by the Global NCAP last year.

In addition to the above Mahindra Marazzo, Toyota Etios Liva, Tata Zest  and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza all have passed the crash tests with a considerable 4-star safety rating, thus earning the reward for the country.
