Jaguar Land-Rover To Bring New Autonomous Driving Tech Soon

Jaguar Land-Rover has announced that they are working on new autonomous driving technology which will be installed in the future JLR cars. The technology will prepare the car to drive to different terrains with ease. The carmaker is known for manufacturing large SUVs with off-road capability and the technology is going to help it in a better way. This multi-million project aims to make best autonomous cars that will assist the driver in more number of ways.

JLR Autonomous car Technology

To let this happen for real, the Jaguar Land-Rover’s engineering team is developing some sort of sensing technologies that will bring a revolution in the world of cars. The super-active sensors will help the driver while driving the car on uneven terrains. The artificial intelligence will be so upgraded that the car will start thinking and adapt the features according to the road conditions.

Terrain Response System

The technology combines a number of equipments such as cameras, 3D path sensors, ultrasonic radars. Interestingly, the ultrasonic sensors are able to identify road conditions by using the scanners fitted in the car. The terrain response settings lets the car change the driving norms to the best condition applicable. The automaker believes that this revolutionary technology will optimise all-terrain performance and is likely to come with the next-gen Range Rover sport and Range Rover models.

Tony Harper, head of research, Jaguar Land Rover, stated: “Our all-terrain autonomy research isn’t just about the car driving itself on a motorway or in extreme off-road situations. It’s about helping both the driven and autonomous car make their way safely through any terrain or driving situation. In the future, if you enjoy the benefits of autonomous lane keeping on a motorway at the start of your journey, we want to ensure you can use this all the way to your destination, even if this is via a rough track or gravel road.”
