Know 5 Things About Mahindra EV Start-Up

Mahindra’s new company based in Europe will start-up with new electric cars. The company will reveal it in Italy before the Formula E Rome ePrix. Before Mahindra starts the new company based on EVs, here are the five things you need to know in advance.

Rimac Works On Powertrain:

Mahindra is concerned to take the powertrain correctly, that is why it decided to include Rimac which is an EV specialist in manufacturing electric hypercars. Rimac is also working with Aston Martin-Red Bull Racing's AM-RB 001 hypercar and the Koenigsegg Regera to develop battery system. Mahindra also debuted C_Two concept during the Geneva Motor show.

Mahindra wants to compete in the global EV market and also wishes to go in the high-end EV market. The new startup of the Mahindra christened as Project Montana will produce a low-volume and high-end models that can survive against the SUVs and sports cars. The new company is expected to be named Automobili Pininfarina and taking style and design by Italian design house. All the cars will get the badge of Pininfarina, with this the dream of the founders to build a road car also fulfills.

PF1-High Performance SUV:

Electric SUVs will be produced on a larger scale and the top-positioned among those will be Lamborghini Urus fighter, named PF1.

It will be produced on a modular platform and take power from a battery of 140 kWh and produce a peak power of 940 hp. The company claims that it will reach from idle to 100kph in just 3 sec. Two other SUVs are also destined to take place in the large and medium-size luxury segments and they will compete the Porsche Macan and Porsche Cayenne in the market.

First SUV By 2020:

The funding of $100 million will be used for developing SUV and Supercar. The Supercar will be produced by 2018-19 and will be in the market for sale by 2020. The company can later go for external funding as well in order to extend the line-up. The company aims to produce four models with $500 million investment in 5 years.

One Supercar Will Rival To Bugatti Chiron:

One supercar will be directly competing with the 1,500hp Bugatti Chiron. The PF-Zero hypercar model will be among the four models to be developed by the company in limited number. These production limit to only 20 units as decided.
