KTM Recalls Duke 390 and 125 Models in Europe Over Headlamp Issue

Recently introduced 2017 model year version of the Duke 390 and the Duke 125 from the Austrian bike maker have been appreciated a lot across the globe, for their sharp styling, top-notch performance, and distinct LED headlamp assembly. But these mentioned Duke trims are witnessing certain issues with their LED headlamp unit. Therefore, in order to fix problems, KTM has announced a recall of both these bikes in Europe. In fact, the headlamp is facing rebooting issues, in which it randomly switch ON and OFF while riding. During day time, it’s not a major issue but at night it can turn out as a misfortune for the potential owner.

Explaining about the issue, the KTM Europe officially stated, "During the internal endurance testing, KTM experienced some cases of sporadic reboots of the LED headlight. As this may lead to potentially dangerous riding situations, the software of the headlight needs to be updated as soon as possible."

The official words from the KTM Europe are suggesting it is not a major issue and can easily be fixed by updating the software. KTM Europe has urged customers to rush to their respective dealerships if they are facing sporadic reboot issue in their headlights. There, KTM dealerships are fixing the issue by updating software free of cost. Altogether, the KTM Europe is also providing the aid of checking affected bike in recall through their official website.

In terms of the Indian market, there are a few headlamp issues and only with the KTM 390. But here, along with the headlamp, the full-colour TFT instrument console also facing this rebooting issue. As reported, KTM India dealerships have confirmed to fix this software issue on the affected bikes at the time bikes will bring for a service. Altogether, the bikes with these issues are less and from the first rolled out batch of motorcycles and the KTM India dealerships are furnished to fix the issue.

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 hit the Indian market earlier this year and it is a huge transformation of its predecessor with sharp styling, slashed LED headlamp and TFT instrument cluster. Moreover, the other important updates on the motorcycle include BS-IV compliant powertrain, new side-mounted exhaust unit and the electronic equipment of ride-by-wire.
