Mercedes-AMG GT four-door Prototype Spied Testing Ahead its Debut in March

The upcoming GT four-door model from the luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has been spied testing. The spy images which are showcasing the luxury sedan completely undisguised has surfaced online. Officially, the car will be showcased in front of the audience at the Geneva motor show in March.

As per the released official images, it has been found that there will be more performance oriented model with a rear spoiler. Post the launch of the ‘standard’ GT four-door, we can see the arrival of the model with a rear spoiler that will produce much power and downforce to compete with the fastest rival in the segment.

However, the fixed rear wings are normally offered with the AMG’s top-end variants such as Black Series or R variants to give them an outstanding appearance. Though, there are chances that the automaker could also offer with the GT four-door variant that is about to launch in March.

With this kind of rumours, it seems like AMG is planning to craft much tempting avatar of GT four-door variant even before the arrival of standard variant. Expectations are the brand is looking forward to launching variants sooner into each model’s life cycle.

If considered the GT concept of 2017, the AMG GT four-door models will be offered with a range of EQ Power-branded petrol-electric hybrid powertrains with different battery configurations. Those will be able to produce power and needed torque in different ranges.

If compared the new Mercedes-AMG model with existing CLS 63 and the potent rival Porsche Panamera, the model seems much advanced and upmarket offering. The model is slated to go on sale in September 2018.

Underneath the front end, the similar 612hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre petrol V8 engine from the latest E63 S 4Matic will supply the propelling power. Whereas, the nine-speed automatic gearbox with fully variable four-wheel drive system will supply the generated power to the wheels.

For the launch of hybrid variants of the model in question, there are no official words from Mercedes. Though, it is expected to go on sale post-2019. This spied harder version could be a part of hybrid drivetrains.
