Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Estate Unveiled Prior to Paris Debut

Looks like the German automaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to add some new names to its portfolio. Earlier we had witnessed a brand new 6-meter long ultra-luxury unit, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, which first came in front of the crowd at Pebble Beach in California. Later on, the automaker has also soared high in the headlines for a Baby version of the G-Class, which was reported to be launched by the year 2019. And now, the company is on its hetrick with a new all-wheel drive trim of E-Class.   

Here’s the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain Estate - an off-road version of Mercedes E-class Estate trim. While the expected debut is going to happen at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, the company has already surprised its valuable buyers by revealing some of its details. The car’s closest rivals are its German associates Audi’s A6 Allroad and the 2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country, which was unveiled back in June this year.

Thanks to the revised air suspension system that raises the ground clearance of the E-Class All-Terrain by 35 mm. Moreover, with the help of an advanced centre console, the owners can increase the ride height from the 121 mm regular setting to 141 mm intermediate setting and further extended up to the highest setting of 156 mm, effective at maximum speeds up to 35 kmph.

On the designing front, it sports a new twin-blade grille resemble of Merc’s SUV instead of having standard E-Class grille. A range of styling tweaks will also get to see in terms of two-tone front bumper, wheel arch cladding, two-tone rear bumper, roof rails and trapezoidal shaped tail lamps. Besides, now it stands at larger 19-inch wheels along with bigger sidewalls in comparison to the regular one.

The most striking feature, Mercedes’s 4Matic four-wheel drive configuration is also offered with this unit. Furthermore, it has also been equipped with a Dynamic Select Function as a standard attachment that enables the driver to use five different driving modes comprising an All-Terrain mode as well. Inside the cabin, it looks so much identical to the standard version, however, to make it stand out of the crowd, some changes have also been made like exclusive aluminium carbon fibre look material, leather seats, stainless steel pedals and floor mats.

On the mechanical front, it has got only a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine at first which is good for 191 Bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The power will be sent to all the corners through a 9-speed automatic transmission. Having this mechanism, the car can bolt from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.0 seconds and can do top speeds of 232 km/h. A 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine would be powered the E 350d version that is likely to join the lineup by later next year.
