Renault India has been successfully marketing the Kwid model in the Indian market since its first debut. Now, the automaker is planning to bring a more powerful variant powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine. The company will launch the new variant by June 2016, while the much anticipated Easy-R AMT trim is expected to come around Diwali this year. We have already witnessed both models at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Interestingly, the cars received a fair review from the auto enthusiasts.
As of Now, Renault kwid is a close rival to the popular Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 which comes under the entry-level hatchback segment. However, the kwid offers some spectacular SUV-inspired design and offers modern features such as touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. The cabin also offers generous space.
The Renault Kwid 1.0-litre and AMT variants are expected to deliver around 67 bhp of power . The engine shall be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Moreover, the Easy-R AMT variant will be available with the 1.0-litre version only. The change will be seen on the gear rotor as it will be mounted on the centre console .
Renault will also come up with the addition of major safety features like standard dual airbags and ABS on the upcoming 1.0-litre kwid. The current version has been offered with only driver side airbag, which is quite disappointing. The new additions may lead to increase in price and the new variant is likely to cost around INR 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
