Toyota Commences Importing Lexus Range in India

Toyota, the Japanese auto firm, has currently been gleaning the headlines over the journals for bringing up its luxury vehicle division, the Lexus in India. While the expected launch of the company is about to happen next year, the firm has already started boarding some of its units. Fresh reports on import and export database unveil that the manufacturer has brought 14 units of the RX450h here in the country on September 24. Besides, the company is also readying its assembly plant in Bangalore. Going by all these signs, we can believe Lexus will be soon here.

The RX450h, a hybrid mid-size premium crossover which comes attached with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. In addition, a battery-driven electric motor is also there to run the vehicle with an overall power of 295 Bhp. In the global market, the SUV’s motor is packed with an electronically controlled CVT gearbox as well as available with a choice of both a front-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive configuration, where the former comes as a standard attachment and the latter is optional.

The Hybrid Drive System of the Lexus has been specially programmed with a view to minimising extra fuel consumption in traffic. Having this mechanism, the petrol engine of the SUV will be automatically discarded at a low speed and it will run exclusively on electric power at the time of light acceleration. In terms of performance, the hybrid can sprint from zero to 100 kmph in just 7.7 seconds and can hit a top speed up to 200 kmph.   

Furthermore, the RX450h is going to be featured with an electric tailgate, an audio system with 9 speakers, a dual-zone climate control and keyless ignition. If we consider other global market-based models, they are loaded with many optional features including rear DVD entertainment system, a blind spot monitoring system and others. Pricing aspect has not cleared yet, however, the information accessible here from Zauba is showing INR 3,312,542 lakhs is the per unit cost of the car.
