Ultimately!! Bajaj Launches 2017 BS-IV Pulsar 150 With New Colours And AHO Feature

Along with the introduction of long-awaited Cruiser Sports motorcycle- Bajaj Dominar 400, the Pune-based Two-Wheeler manufacturer had also rolled out the 2017 Pulsar range of motorcycles in past two months. If changes are to be considered, the updated range Pulsar has received the BS-IV compliant engine and the Auto Headlamp ON (AHO) feature, which were initially noticed on the Dominar 400. Last but not least is the addition of new colours, to extend the range of choices for the Pulsar lovers. Under the same Pulsar moniker, almost all the trims from different segments have been modified, expect Pulsar 150.

Well, the burning question is, why the largest selling Pulsar, the Pulsar 150 has not been complied to the stringent BS IV emission norms yet? The reason is, the older Pulsar 150 engine’s transition to 2017 BS-IV compliant engine needed major alterations to make. Inner and major mechanical changes includes reduction in bore and increase in stroke length of the engine, which consequently affected the power and torque output, by one unit.

Now, the 2017 Pulsar 150 churns out 14 PS of maximum power at 8000rpm, reduced by 1PS, while the transmitted torque has become 13.4Nm at 6000rpm with the increase of around 1Nm torque.

The engine periphery at the bottom end has been changed to fit perfectly onto the redesigned mounts. Moreover, other new features comprises a 5-Map CDI instead of 2-Map system in the older version, AHO and redesigned exhaust muffler with large diameter. All the changes not only made the motorcycle BS-IV compliant but also give better NVH levels, higher refinements and reduces rattle sound.

The considered changes has increased the price of the bike with Rs 1090 to the ex-showroom price of the motorcycle. Similar changes are also expected into the Avenger 150 as well, which employs the same motor.
