Today, OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone maker is all set to launch it's most awaited flagship smartphone - OnePlus 5 at 12 pm EDT (9:30 pm IST). OnePlus has also confirmed that just like the launching of previous smartphones, the launch event will be streamed online via company’s official website starting 12 pm EDT - 9:30 pm IST - June 20. Moreover, the company has also organized a pop-up event on the launch day itself in New York, which will also be honored by the presence of company’s founder Carl Pei and Marques Brownlee (aka MKBHD). Pop-up events in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Copenhagen has also been panned on the very next day of launching.
Though officially nothing has yet been revealed about the smartphone, but in the light of various leaks, there is nothing left to the imagination. The OnePlus 5 price in India has been tipped more than once in the recent past, with a seeming consensus of Rs. 32,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant, and Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB RAM/ 128GB inbuilt storage variant. It must be noted that the OnePlus 5 India launch is scheduled to happen at 2 pm IST on 22nd June, at an event in Mumbai. While it's officially been confirmed to be an Amazon India exclusive and will go on sale at 4:30 pm the same day. Apart from India price, both EU and US pricing of the OnePlus 5 have also been tipped, which is expected to be EUR 550 (Approx. Rs. 39,900) and $479 (Approx. Rs. 30,800) respectively, thought to correspond to the 128GB and 64GB variants.

To recall, the upcoming OnePlus 5 Android smartphone is believed to be blessed with a 5.5-inch full-HD display along with Android 7.0 Nougat OS. It is said to be powered by a 2.35GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and an option to choose from 64GB and 128GB built-in storage variants. In term of optics, the leaked specifications of the Dual-SIM smartphone suggests the availability of a 23-megapixel rear sensor and a 16-megapixel camera at the front for taking selfies.
According to the official information, it has already been confirmed that the smartphone will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, a front-facing fingerprint sensor, and a camera developed in partnership with DxO. Rest of the specifications will only be confirmed at the time of its launching. It must be noted that after the blockbuster success of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T, the upcoming OnePlus 5 is an important phone for the company. With the OnePlus 5, OnePlus needs to show that its success in 2016 was no flash in a pan and that it can sustain the momentum.
