iOS 9 May Include Split-screen Feature, Transit View in Maps and More

A while ago, we had discussed about a plenty of attributes of iOS 8.4 Beta 3, and now next major version of mobile operating system, Apple iOS 9 has started collecting rumors. Notably, next-iteration of Cupertino based tech giant will make its official debut during annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015, which will take place in San Francisco from June 8 to June 12.

As yet, there is nothing official, but multiple sources have come into view with various facets of this next-generation firmware and suggesting about a bevy of significant updates. According a report of 9to5Mac, upcoming OS will be decked with more advanced Apple map that will confer transit directions feature. After abandoning Google which was the mapping provider in platform, corporation has been planning to integrate transit mapping service in its native map.

This facility was anticipated to come last year as a part of iOS 8, but some personal issues and data inconsistencies were obstacles in its way. Through Transit Routing, users will get bus, subway and train route navigation as the central upgrade to official Map app in iOS 9. It has been claimed by the informant that developers are also working on the advancement of its indoor mapping project, whereby iOS Maps will navigate the consumers for major buildings, offices and landmarks.

The one more eye-catching inclusion could be split-screen multitasking functionality that will reinvigorate iPads. This tablet-only feature will basically provide dual-app viewing mode as well as offer multi-user logins, wherein it will support 1/2, 1/3, and 2/3 views depending on the app.” Using this tool, customers will be able to open two different apps side-by-side as well as multiple views of the same application will be possible.

The split-screen applications could see light of the day at WWDC 2015, while multi-user login support will come later for general public with forthcoming 12-inch iPads. As per reports, "Apple is testing jumbo-sized iPads internally codenamed "J98" and "J99," which are apparently larger versions of the Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad Air 2, save for additional speaker holes."

Rest of the rumored flashy aspects of iOS 9 are replacement of Helvetica Neue from new San Francisco font designed for Apple Watch, integration of the Beats Music streaming service, renovated voice-assistant: Siri. If the reports are to be believed, then software will be housed with a novel kernel-level security system, called rootless that will protect sensitive data and curb malware.

Moreover, Apple has been testing a core version of iOS 9, which is compatible with old iDevices engineered with A5 processor such as iPhone 4s, original iPad mini, iPad 2 and fifth-generation iPod touch. And, it is expected to offer improved performance compared to iOS 8. Well, this hotly-anticipated OS is still unpolished for public consumption and it will probably roll-out with yet-to-be launched iPhones 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
