Renault Kwid Easy-R AMT Version Launched in India; Priced at INR 4.25 Lakhs

Finally, Renault has launched an AMT version of its Kwid hatchback here in the country for the price of INR 4.25 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). First displayed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Kwid Easy-R AMT unit is being offered with the same 1.0-litre engine that has earlier been introduced under the hood of Kwid SCe. Besides, the latest offering from the company does not get any upgrades in terms of both exterior and interior except a digital speedometer and MediaNav multimedia and navigation system.

Available only in the top-spec RXT (O) trim, it gets 999 cc engine beneath the bonnet that is tuned to churn out a 67 bhp of power and 91 Nm of torque. The 5-speed automated manual transmission box is there making it easier to drive in the country’s huge traffic condition. As reported earlier, the gearbox features a dashboard mounted rotary selector knob instead of the regular gear lever at the centre console. It has three modes - Reverse, Neutral and Drive. The traditional gear lever leaves more space in the row for an additional storage space.

With this mechanism, the engine is claimed to return a fuel mileage of 24.04 kmpl which is slightly higher from the mileage of manual unit that stands at 23.01 kmpl. At this price, it will get a head to head with Alto Alto K10 AMT which is priced about INR 20,000 less than the said unit.

Speaking on the launch of Kwid Easy-R AMT, Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director of Renault India Operations, added, “Looking at evolving customer preferences, AMT technology is becoming popular in the compact hatchback segment and we are happy to build on our portfolio by launching the KWID AMT. With this launch, we look forward to welcoming more customers into the Renault family as we endeavour to aggressively build our presence in India.”
