Volkswagen Reveals Golf GTI TCR Race Car

Volkswagen has revealed a new track-focused Golf GTI TCR, which is based on the ongoing Golf GTI model. The company is all set to develop only 20 units of this vehicle for team members in the 2016 Touring Car Racing Championship. Well, one of the TCR concept has already been showcased earlier last year at the same ground as a part of the ongoing development.

The new version is heavily modified for racing with large rear spoiler for extra down force, aero package, large air intakes with extra ducts and scoops, wider stance and lower ride hight. Mechanically, the new Golf GTI TCR comes equipped with a 2.0-litre engine, which is good for 325 Bhp of massive power and 410 Nm of peak torque.

The motor is mated with a six-speed sequential transmission that delivers the power at front wheel axle. In order to send power comfortably, VW has added the multi-plate differential to TCR. The brand claims that it can easily make 0-100 Km/h run under 5.2 seconds.

Just like all other racing cars, this can be also loaded with some other racing equipments inside the cabin. Besides, it comes with the FIA approved fuel tank and a roll cage, which makes the unit more safe. Moreover, all the 20 units have already been sold to the teams that are participating in the 2016 FIA Touring Car Racing series.
