Yamaha MT-03 May Launch in India During This Festive Season

Reportedly, Yamaha India is likely to launch its naked streetfighter -the MT-03 in India sometime around festive season this year. The motorcycle is expected to be priced around INR 2.75 lakh for its non-ABS model. It was being expected that this MT-03 would be launched at this year’s Auto Expo in Delhi, where it was first showcased. As the company had surprisingly rolled-out its elder sibling, the MT-09 at the same event. Now an interesting bit has been received from the closest source that the bike maker seems ready to launch the MT-03 at this festive season.

On mechanicals, the Yamaha MT-03 is bolted with a liquid cooled 321 cc parallel twin engine on the shared compact and lightweight chassis derived for the faired offering the YZF-R3. In participation with an electronic fuel injection system, the mated engine with a six-speed transmission produces 41 bhp of power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm.

Featuring the front centered mass styling, the Yamaha MT-03 rides on the 110/70 section front and 140/70 section wide rear 10 spoke wheels, which are wearing the tubeless tyres. This aggressive naked beast is equipped with 41mm telescopic front forks and an adjustable rear monoshock to absorb shocks. While the disc brake units at both wheels take care of the braking of the motorcycle. One of the important safety features, the ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) may not be available for India bound model as its faired sibling, the YZF-R3 missed the same.

Post its launch, the Yamaha MT-03 will be pitted against the likes of the Benelli TNT 300, Kawasaki Z250 and the KTM 390 Duke in the Indian market.
