Apple Siri and Maps Bug Finally Resolved by Apple After Five Years

Being a pioneer landmark in the smartphone industry, Apple is being looked upon by several startup companies for guidance, but as is said Nothing is perfect no matter what and looks like we have one another live example to prove the saying. Apple is known to produce above-class products, however, it's most widely used service Siri is as reports claim been affected by a major bug and that too from last 5 years and now Apple has finally resolved that bug.

As per user reports, Siri and Apple Maps had from past five years misguiding users whenever the user had to find information related to abortion centres. The voice-enabled service used to redirect users to various fertility clinics and adoption centers in place of abortion centres and despite users keeping Apple notified of the bug, it looks as if the company had really progressed quite slow in responding to the users. Users can now heave a sigh of relief since the Cupertino-based company has finally fixed the flaw in some cities.

The issue was first reported in 2011 and due to misguiding a lot of users, Apple had to face a lot of heat from all around the globe. At the time, Nancy Keenan, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation requested Apple CEO Tim Cook to fix the issue. Now, Fast Company who reported the bug again last month has also confirmed that Apple has successfully fixed the issue in at least some cities.

Nancy Keenan wrote Anti-choice groups created [crisis pregnancy centres] to look like comprehensive health clinics, but many do not provide women with accurate pregnancy-related information. Ultimately, many of these centers can be harmful and do nothing to help women locate the services they requested from Siri.

It is also worth mentioning that the bug came into existence in the days when both the Apple Siri and Maps services had just begun making their way into the lives of Apple users and as it happens with every new service, it too had a number of glitches that also included giving people suggestions about a good place to hide a dead body. Addressing the glitch that caused Siri to offer misleading information, the company at that time assured users that it was not an intentional omission, adding a software bug was causing it but despite Apple constantly working on it, it took five years to completely remove it.
