Mercedes-Benz launches G63 AMG, a premium off-roader, at Rs 2.19 crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched its premium SUV, the G63 AMG, in India. If you are planning to buy this Rs 2.19 crore off-roader than you can be assured of some good company too. Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor, the bollywood star, also owns one. The Indian Subcontinent promises in challenging terrains in abundance. And if you prefer travelling highs over cozy coffee mugs, than the G63 AMG coupled with its three fully locking differentials will get you through the most testing of terrains without the slightest of hiccups. The G63 AMG gets 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system as standard and highlight of the new variant is the reworked cabin that exhibits opulence and class from all corners.

The Cabin

Draped in designo black leather the new G63 cabin gets longer and wider. The cabin boasts of increased shoulder room and legroom. The cabin features a redesigned dashboard with Mercedes-Benz’s Widescreen carbon fibre Cockpit. It gets digital instruments in combination with two 12.3-inch displays as standard.

Exterior Design And Safety

The front fascia with round headlamps and high bonnet gel perfectly with the G wagon inspired silhouette boxy design. Oher key element include door hinges and handles, direction indicators. Further, the dimension are increased by the widened ladder-frame chassis. The Ground also goes up by 241mm. In addition to this, the G63 now rests on 21-inch alloy wheels clearance housed within flared wheel arches. Other key exterior updates include:

  • Side-mounted exhaust pipes
  • LED headlamps

The G53 comes packed with active brake assist, nine airbags and lane keeping assistance as standard. It also offers adaptive cruise control and a blind spot monitoring system as part of the optional Driving Assistance pack.

Power and Transmission

Power duties rests on the M178 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol motor mated to which is coupled to AMG Speedshift TCT 9G 9-speed automatic transmission. Power is channeled to all wheels via the Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. The AMG performance offering churns out 585 hp of 585 hp power and a peak torque of 850Nm making the SUV.

The G63 can roar from 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds and also reach peak speed of 220 km/h. If all this does not quench your power cravings, there is the adjustable AMG performance exhaust system which multiplies the effects by a few levels. With AMG RIDE CONTROL one can also adjust suspension level on demanding terrains. Last but not the least, the suspension has been completely refurbished to make the G63 a true all-terrain champ.
