2017 Land Rover Discovery to Feature Remote Folding Seats

A couple of days before, some official images of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery were posted online and stimulated a buzz among the buyers. While the world premier is scheduled to be done at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the sole reason behind the previous unveiling of the pictures was to promote the fifth generation SUV. Now, a fresh report suggest that the upcoming beast will be featured with an all new intelligent power-folding seat technology that will enable the owner to adjust the seat via remote control.
Exclusively available in the new Discovery, the wireless seat control facility will be handled through an InControl Remote smartphone application that is capable of lowering and raising the rear seats. What is the most striking thing about the app is that it can adjust the seats from anywhere in the world. Besides, you will get the same 7-occupants sitting arrangement inside the cabin with three seats at the centre and two at the rear. Both the second and the third row can be operated by the app.

After sending the command from the registered smartphone, the software code will be received by the company’s server and the user on the other side will be authenticated. Later on the signal will be dispatched to the modem, which is fitted in the vehicle. The so called command must be interpreted by the CAN bus and directed to the proper ECU. Consequently, multiple electric motors will be activated.

“This unique feature sets the new Discovery apart from any other vehicle. The fact that owners can change the seating while doing things like queuing with their shopping is a true milestone in convenience delivered through technological innovation,” said, Alex Heslop, Chief Engineer, Land Rover Discovery, about the system.

Much lighter than the previous generation model, it is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, while rumors are also there for the automaker’s 3.0-litre V6 powerhouse for both petrol and diesel motor options. Based on the Land Rover Discovery Vision, the new Disco will make its public debut on the eve of 2016 Paris Motor Show. Advanced booking of the beast is likely to commence soon after its world debut, with deliveries starting from early 2017.
